      Based on Rachana's feedback:

All of these are minor presentation issues and obviously super subjective on what is appealing.

Feel free to keep or discard suggestion.

      * Registered user, on Local Gateway Login

      (1) "If you registered at this site, please enter your usual username and password:"

I would replace the word "usual" with just "your".

      (2) Focus on Username text box

      * Accounts

"Apply for memberships in special groups, Change your password or email, Administer user groups (group administrators only). "

Capitals. "Manage your account" is a good summary of this link.

      * Create new account https://esg.ucar.edu/ac/guest/secure/newUserRegistration-flow.htm?execution=e1s1

      (1) User Registration: enter User Information

      Capitals.

      (2) "Please enter the following information to create a new account. Required fields are marked.

Please note that the information you enter can only contain the following characters:
letters (upper or lower case), numbers, and the characters '-', '_', '.', ':', ';' and '@'.

The information you are about to enter will NOT be shared with any commercial or profit-based organization. "

I would reorganize this. The note about characters are in bold, but they can be either near the username/password or not so emphasized. We need to grab attention on the fact they need to enter information and it is not shared.

"Required fields are marked in blue", with the last few words in blue works better I think.

      (3) "User Registration: choose Login Name and Password"

      Capitals.

      (4) " Please choose your login name and password carefully."

The word carefully there really does not add anything. "Please choose a login name and password for use with the ESG NCAR GAteway" or some such. Scope where the username password will be applicable and that will help choose the password. For example, "this usename and password can be used to log onto all ESG Federation Gateways".

      (5) Password/Username rules are required, but need not in bold. I am not for usename/password examples. The password examples don't speak to any strength, so I would not recommend it there. The rules are simple and clear enough, and if someone doesn't want to think about the rules, they will probably copy/paste one of the examples provided there :)

      (6) Use of enter on that page did not work for me. Focus on username.

      (7) I prefer having my username displayed on the top corner of the page. easier to know if I am logged in, rather than have to scroll down long pages with dataset to see my identity.

      (8) Once I request new account, stating who to expect email from and with some particular subject would be useful. at that point a reminder to look at junk/spam folder might help.

      (9) Email on registration reads like this with subject "Portal Account Notification".

"Please confirm your registration by clicking:
      https://esg.ucar.edu/ac/guest/secure/confirmAccount.htm?userName=ranantha
If you are not attempting to register, you may safely ignore this email, you will not be registered unless you click on the link above.

Please write down your portal OpenID:
      https://esg.ucar.edu/myopenid/ranantha
You will be needing it when logging in. Thank you."

      - Add the fact that someone requested ESG Gateway registration. Specific Gateway they requested it for and that this email address was provided. Subject line that says ESG Portal Account Request would be good.

      - I would rephrase as: "The following is you OpenID identifier which can be used to log into any of the ESG Federation portals. Please save the identifier: ".

      (10) Email on group account looks liek this:

"Your group memberships have been updated:

      Group: CCSM

      Role: Standard Status: Valid

      Message from administrator: "

Again, add context that it is from ESG.

      (11) Password change email:

      "Your account password is '86UkEtQyDuGi34'.
For security, please change your password after logging into the portal."

Add context, both to the text and to subject line. Once I request for reset, state that an email will be sent from specific domain/address and ask to check spam/junk folder.
