Data set metadata in CADIS separately lists a "README" link to a README file if it's available. There is no mechanism right now to edit the existing README links or to create new README links. Many of the existing README files in CADIS only exist in the metadata and aren't listed as files in the file download area. The implication being that the README files do not have FileAccessPoints associated with them and are in fact in a completely separate storage area on vetswebprod (/local/apache/htdocs/metadata/cadis) than where the data is stored and served by a separate Tomcat instance than the portal.
Questions to answer:
- Do we need/want to continue to support files that do not show up in the file download area? If so, how?
- Does the CADIS interface for this mechanism need to enforce a plain text only requirement? Is that a requirement?
