I know this is a contentious issue, but...
The Earth Background is really reducing usability and readability of the site. Not being able to see the full image because being covered up by different boxes or other items looks like smudges on the screen. The crispness of our boxes lines and free text that fall over the image is reduced and makes it harder for the eye to track.
My guess is the use of all the boxes in the application was out of readability issues do to text being over the blue part of the image... The added lines of all the boxes inside of boxes tends to reduce usability and readability.

Is there a way that we can do something like having the earth background image, but not being right in the middle of the screen?
