Has there been much benefit to having multiple Gateways per database instance? (This is a serious question, not a sarcastic one...)
I believe we would realize the following benefits:
- Simpler queries: Logging in users, getting activities (Including projects), simpler metrics, etc...
- Updates to Individual Gateways could occur independently. Currently our design is to have ESG, CADIS, and some other Gateway all on one database. When we decide to update that database we must make sure that all three gateways are also updated at the same time.
It would also help simplify our security requirements. Currently licenses can be edited by all Gateways that are on the same database. See ticket:GTWY-383
