The "Download Data" page (sometimes called the "Mass File Download" page) is slow to display for large (>1000) file listings. Often (in Firefox) a javascript dialog is raised showing "Warning: Unresponsive Script" with options to stop, debug or continue the script.
The resulting page is also very large (at times in excess of 10Mb of html.) This may not conform to our desired performance criteria and page size limitations (which are not well defined.) This likely needs review.
In addition, this page is often displayed after an authorization/login is required, which can lead to confusion on behalf of the user as it is not clear why the browser is "spinning" after login (leads one to wonder if the login has encountered a problem or ??) In general this slow to display page may hinder the perception of "forward progress".
